RIO'S TRIO FLOCKO TO MOROCCO
Exclusive by Tom Carlin
FOOTIE superstar Rio Ferdinand and his England team-mates John Terry and Gary Neville are investing a bundle in a multimillion holiday complex in Morocco.
Rio, 27, put up £500,000 for a luxury villa on the Mediterranean coast on the advice of his agent Pini Zahavi. Then fellow defenders Terry and Neville decided to do the same.
Experts reckon the trio could clean up because tourism is booming in the north African kingdom, with a tourism explosion predicted by 2012.
The new complex - called Le Jardin de Fleur - is built on a site boasting four miles of unspoilt coastline.
The villas all have private pools.
And they are set in landscaped grounds that feature round-theclock security, shopping centres, a marina, three 18-hole golf courses and 11 hotels.
Rio, Man U colleague Neville, 30, and Chelsea hero Terry, 26, hope to mirror the success of David Beckham and other England stars who paid £600,000 a head for homes in Dubai four years ago.
The properties - which have still not been completed - are already worth £2.5million each.
An insider told The People: "Despite earning millions, players always want investment opportunities.
"They enjoy trying to beat their pals in finding the best deal.
"They have so much money it is almost like a real-life game of Monopoly to them."
The insider added: "Rio discovered this Moroccan opportunity but nowJohn and Gary will be just as keen to find a better deal.
"And obviously they will tell Rio about it when they do."
